4th European Biomethane Conference

The European Biomethane Conference offers a platform to discuss new trends and perspectives on biomethane and renewable gases in Europe. For the last three years, the conference took place in Berlin and received around 150 participants from more than 15 countries annually. This year, we will mix things up and hold the conference on
20 September 2018 in Dublin.

Why Dublin? The technical potential of biomethane in Ireland has been estimated at around 33PJ in 2020, equivalent to around 11% of final energy demand or a third of total gas demand. With this conference, organized jointly with RGFI, we are sending out a signal for the development of a biomethane market in Ireland.

We invited Minister Denis Naugthen of the Department of Communications, Climate Action & Environment (DCCAE) to speak on Ireland’s contribution to fighting climate change.
Malcolm McDowell of DG Energy will speak about the recast of Renewable Energy Directive and its implications for bioenergy.

Meet leaders from the gas industry, trade associations, energy agencies, producers and traders of biomethane, scientists and politicians from Ireland and all over Europe. Learn about green gas markets in other European countries and discuss innovative technologies as well as regulatory obstacles and opportunities.
